'Wahine Mana'

Regular price $45.00

In general, history tends to define the stories of men. However with the aim of bringing women’s stories forward, I’ve looked into NZ history.  Arguably one of the most critical moments in New Zealand history was the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi and I was delighted to see that Maori women played a pivotal part in the signing.  More than 500 chiefs signed the Treaty, 13 of these were female chiefs, women of Mana.  Some of the women were not yet literate and so signed by drawing their moko on the treaty.  Each Hibiscus represents one of the female chiefs the flowers are laid on a Maori cloak and the fantail as always my story teller.
